About the department

The Department of Food Technology was opened in 1986 and is a specialized department of the Almaty Technological University.

The teaching staff of the department are leading scientists and specialists in food technology with extensive scientific, pedagogical and practical experience.

Scientists from the field of fundamental sciences participate in the training of students, master's degree students and doctoral students.

The department staff consists of doctors of science, candidates of science, PhD , masters, and the staff with degrees is 75%.

Scientists and staff of the department annually undergo internships at leading enterprises of the food industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in countries of the near and far abroad.

The department's faculty includes:

Master's degree teachers study in the department's doctoral programs and successfully defend their doctoral dissertations.

The department's scientists successfully combine the training of specialists in food technology with conducting scientific research and training scientific and pedagogical personnel.

The activities of the department are based on the regulatory documents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the principles of the Bologna process and standards for the accreditation of engineering programs within the framework of the EUR-ACE ( European Accredited Engineer – European Accredited Engineer).

The training of personnel is carried out according to a 3-level system: “Bachelor’s degree – Master’s degree – Doctorate”.

The bachelor's degree program has undergone international accreditation and re-accreditation in the ASIIN Agency (Germany) with the right to award the graduate with the " Euro-Engineer" label ( EUR-ACE®).

The Master's and Doctoral educational programs have undergone International Accreditation by the ASIIN Agency (Germany).

In the ratings of the National Accreditation Agencies (Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and National Agency for Accreditation and Rating) of the NCE Atameken , the educational programs of the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in "Technology of Food Products" annually occupy leading positions among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
